Brookfield Central High School is a comprehensive public secondary school located in the city of Brookfield, Wisconsin. It is a sister school to Brookfield East High School, also located in Brookfield. The high school is administered by the Elmbrook School District, which operates nine schools in Brookfield and Elm Grove, Wisconsin.

Brookfield Central offers honors and Advanced Placement courses along with classes in art, business management and technology, English, foreign language (French, German, Latin, and Spanish), family and consumer education, applied technology and engineering, mathematics, music, physical education, science, and social studies.

BCHS was ranked by Newsweek #378 in its list of "America's Best High Schools 2010," and was third among 20 Wisconsin schools on the list.[2]

In 2010, the Elmbrook School District was ranked third by Forbes.com as "America's 25 Best Schools For Your Housing Buck" with an Education Quality Score of 93.94 out of 100.[3]

Clubs and Activities

Art Club Art Club is an organization for students with a common interest in art. Students are provided time to work on projects or explore new ideas and materials. Art Club meetings consist of open studio time where students can work in the art room and participate in art-related field trips. Art Club members regularly contribute their art skills and talents to help with school and community events.

BCTV BCTV broadcasts daily announcements to the entire school and videotapes various school events.

Book Club Students read and talk about books, meeting about once a month.

Class Council Class Councils provide leadership for all class activities, and promote school spirit. They are elected by members of each class.

Debate Club Debate is an activity which promotes competition and teamwork, and allows students to gain skills in communication and logic. Students who have the interest and ability to speak in competition tournaments are eligible to participate.

Environmental Club

FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes)

Forensics Students have their choice of competing in one of 17 different categories that fall under the headings of Speech, Impromptu Speaking, Interpretative Reading, or Acting. Students begin preparing their pieces second quarter and compete at tournaments on Saturdays throughout most of third quarter. Individual and team awards may be earned.

French Club Explore the cultures of French speaking cultures through field trips, cooking, and film.

Freshmen Mentorship

German Club This club is open to students that might be interested in learning about German culture to include watching movies in German, playing various games, cooking, and Gingerbread Houses for Christmas.

Junior Statesmen of America

Key Club Key Club members work together in a team effort to fulfill the needs of their schools and communities through volunteer service. Key Club is sponsored by the Elm Grove Kiwanis, a worldwide service organization.

K'NEX This club is specifically for people of color or ANY student to become better connected to our school as a whole, to teachers, and to peers. Opportunities to educate and illustrate information on African American culture will be a priority.

Latin Club Experience the culture and history of the ancient world, both Roman and Greek with travel opportunities, toga bowling, state convention and competitions, field trips and collaborative club events with BEHS's Latin Club.

Legend The school yearbook records the events of the year. A knowledge of graphics and journalism displayed in original format is emphasized. Membership is open to any student interested in publications, graphics, photography or journalism.

National Honor Society The National Honor Society encourages excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. The Brookfield Central chapter is composed of juniors and seniors who have satisfied requirements relating to scholarship, leadership, service, and character.

Odyssey of the Mind Odyssey of the Mind is a creative problem solving competition. Teams of 5-7 students choose one of five technical or performance based long term problems and work as a team to come up with a solution to their problem along with worling on spontaneous problem solving.

Ping Pong Members play ping pong and compete in tournaments.

Science Team

Ski Club Students compete in ski racing.

Student Council Student Council focuses on developing student leaders. As a member of Student Council you will assist in making decisions that affect daily life at BC.

TRUST/SADD TRUST/SADD is committed to educating/developing awareness about drug and alcohol issues.

Tyro Student Newspaper Students have an opportunity to write stories, edit, work on layout, do research and interviewing, take photos, do art work and/or proofread. Editor positions usually go to upperclass students; beginners on staff usually enter as reporters.
